Amen…
Hello again. I hope this entry finds you feeling well and in good spirits pertaining to what you are pursuing (if anything) in life. Amen.
That said, I would like to fill you in on the latest, my latest. Today I am feeling very hopeful for the future. Amen. I had a wonderful viola practice this morning. With that in mind, I have noticed that I feel better after (and during) a good practice. My confidence increases daily as I conquer the mastery of the instrument.
Just before writing this entry, I was looking around online for orchestras in need of a violist. Well, in this moment, I am finding that my direction is going towards where I have discussed in the past entries; that is, living in Houston and teaching violin and viola to whomever may be wanting lessons. Amen.
My thoughts are to revamp this site and gear it up for recruiting students in the Houston Area. I have mentioned this before, but I will make the drive from Galveston to Houston in order to build a solid foundation of students.
This is all coming from a file dream that I had been chasing for years. Who really knows what the future holds, but I am moving forward in this direction for now. Amen.
This means I will probably continue to progress on both violin and viola in my private practice.
Also, I should mention, I am very confident that I could win a position if I felt the desire to be in an orchestra or other type of music ensemble.
It may come down to me putting together my own group one day. Perhaps a string quartet or something of the like.
Ah, I have toyed with the idea of a chamber music collective for the Houston Area and perhaps beyond.
This collective would be headed by me, their own artistic director. I would have the auditions and would be in the forefront of selecting the musicians that participated in the ensemble. That doesn’t mean I’m superior in any way, but that my ideals for making music would be stressed and significant to the growth and prosperity of the ensemble.
This could be my first time mentioning the idea to you guys. But, it has entered my mind when leaving behind the old dreams.
Also, I have thought about having a smaller venue in which people could come to hear us every weekend, and also during the week. The core group of musicians for this type of project would be capable of playing recitals and also different types of ensembles as well. We could potentially mix and match each scheduled concert together and it could be a place promoting these musicians every week.
I haven’t heard of this done very often. I mean, we do have concert halls and such, but not a venue that is made specifically for a group of musicians to perform chamber works and recitals for the public on a weekly basis.
I would team all of this up with a studio of students, who’s size seems appropriate for my schedule. This would be by far an entity capable of supporting myself and others. Amen.
So, if nothing else comes along, maybe this is what I will do in the years to come. Right here in Houston. Amen.
That said, what are your thoughts on something like this. Amen.
Would love to hear them. You can use the contact space below to reach me with your thoughts and suggestions.
Thank you and have a blessed and wonderful day.
Amen.
Love,
Travis Galbraith
