Teaching - Violin and Viola
Mr. Galbraith welcomes all ages and levels of playing into his private studio. This is simply because if you, the student, have a will to learn and progress on the instrument, then he is open to sharing his teaching with you. Amen.
Mr. Galbraith has been teaching over a twenty year span of time. He has taught some students privately, but most were involved in a school orchestra program or independent school of music. Today, he is building his own studio of students, to allow him to feel free to teach his innate method of teaching.
For beginning and intermediate levels, Mr. Galbraith teaches from the Suzuki Method books, as this method is what he was familiar with during his own growth as a young musician. This does not mean he cannot teach out of other books or in different styles of playing, but in general, the Suzuki method is an acceptable way of approaching a young musicians daily growth.
For advanced students, Mr. Galbraith ventures into more standard literature that he and the student agree is appropriate to learn at the time. This level of playing can be found at different ages for different students. All students have the capability of reaching into standard repertoire, but only when the time is right for the student and teacher. Thank you.
Mr. Galbraith’s method of instruction is to meet the student where they are in each lesson, and to promote growth as both an individual and as a musician. He has had success with all levels of playing, and all ages as well. He does not adhere to any particular type of teaching, but is instead interested in accommodating whatever goals are presented by the student. Amen. Again, all are welcome in his studio, as long as you want to progress on the instrument. Thank you.
If you are interested in a free trial lesson, Mr. Galbraith can be reached by contacting him though the “Contact” section of this site. Feel free to ask him any questions that you may have regarding his private teaching style and details. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Mr. Galbraith
