Progress…
Hello again. I hope this message finds you feeling well and that your life is full of what I like to call “positive energy”.
My first thought as I am sitting and writing this, is to explain what is in the foremost part of my mind at the moment. That is, what on earth am I going to do with my life? Haha. Many of you who know me are aware that I have put much time and energy into this question over recent years. Well, I have made much progress, but as life goes on, I am beginning to fathom this question as one that doesn’t go away, but should be approached with an open mind each time it presents itself. This is because, frankly, they question is gone when I am active and doing things, but comes back when I am sitting around wondering about the meaning of life. Haha. Know what I mean?
Anyway, to fill you in on the latest… I am currently working on a commission that will be the largest piece I have ever completed. It will be 48x48, or 4 feet x 4 feet. Large drawing. Amen. I have yet to start on it, but am sure it will be fun and challenging. Amen. That said, I am also booked for a gig in Victoria, TX, playing with the familiar group of people there that I have been playing with since 2013. It is a blessing that they are still hiring me, considering all the directions I go in in life. But, they are nice people and I am happy to add my expertise and gifts to their ensemble. This particular concert will come together at the end of April. I am stoked to play with them again.
Also, I should let you guys know I recently played in a string quartet concert in the home of some people in Houston. It was awesome. The evening culminated in a performance of Dvorak’s “American” String Quartet. It opens with a beautiful viola solo, played in this case by yours truly. I had a blast and feel that the group played very well and gave a great performance. Amen.
Hoping for more of those types of performances in the future, although I dod not know what will come.
Ah, should share another thought I am currently having, which is to become my own soloist, with looping pedals, violin, viola, voice and more. The gig will be under the same name I have always called myself, “Treasureblaze”. I can play all types of music but am just getting started with the electronic aspect of the show. I am super stoked about it, but no promises about when I will have it together. Chances are I will be playing my first shows in Galveston or other areas nearby. Will keep you posted on my progress.
Ah, I would like to thank my friend, Jen, for inspiring me in this direction. She is a phenomenal player and a gifted solo artist. Amen. Huge inspiration. Maybe one day we will be on the same stage. Who knows? Love to Jen.
All that said, what is happening in your life? I have been anxious in recent days to get started with something new. But that said, this new violin gig should keep me occupied for the coming year or so. I will continue with my visual art and classical music gigs, but am very excited to learn and experience this growth of myself as a solo artist.
Are you having these “spring-time thoughts”? Are you pulsating with creative energy? I love that feeling. What projects are you undertaking? Is it a new book to read? A new approach to your artwork? A new genre of music listening? What is it? Let me know if you feel like sharing.
All the best to each one of you and I hope that if nothing else, you are having fun in life doing whatever it is you do.
Peace and Love,
Travis Galbraith
